读经：以赛亚书16章1-5节
熊熊森林大火在科罗拉多州附近美丽的大峡谷燃起，狂烧多日，摧毁了野生动物的栖息地，以及数以百计的房屋。全国各地的百姓都向上帝呼求，求祂降下雨来熄灭烈火、终止灾难，使消防队员有喘息的机会。有些人的祷告似乎很有趣，因为他们求上帝显出怜悯，降下大雨，但却不要发出闪电，因为他们怕闪电会引发更多火苗。
这让我想到生命中有的事情经常十分微妙，正如「水能载舟亦能覆舟」一样，一些事情能让我们生，也可以致我们死。因为有火，我们得以煮食取暖，但同时它也能烧毁我们。同样的，水让我们维持生命，浇灌土地，但我们也可能会因水而溺毙。两者之间无论过与不及，都足致害命。
属灵的原则也是一样。要建设文明社会，需要执法公正和怜悯这两个相对的特质（撒迦利亚书7章9节）。耶稣曾责备法利赛人，因他们为 [....]
读经：路加福音6章27-36节
每年在德州奥斯丁市举办的图书节，吸引成千上万的人前来。他们享受浏览丛书的乐趣，参加名作家主持的研讨会，以及搜集专业作家的智慧锦囊。有一回，有位撰写青年小说的作家，对一群有志于写作的人说：「写一本你想要在架上找到的书！」不管是对写作或对生活来说，这都是一项相当有力的建议。试想，若是我们决定活出自己想要他人活出的样式，会是什么情况呢？
在路加福音6章27-36节里，耶稣劝诫祂的跟随者，追求能够展现上帝恩慈的生活方式：「你们的仇敌，要爱他！恨你们的，要待他好！咒诅你们的，要为他祝福！凌辱你们的，要为他祷告！」（27-28节）祂也提到，对于无理的对待，我们应当以宽容与不报复的行为作为回应（29-30节）。耶稣如此说：「你们愿意人怎样待你们，你们也要怎样待人。」（31节）
